Using an Aromatherapy Diffuser

There are a number of ways to practice aromatherapy using essential oils. Essential oils are used to scent candles and potpourri. Another method is to use a diffuser.

Diffusers come in various shapes, sizes, styles, colors, and types of materials. You should be selective when purchasing a diffuser. You need to be careful because some diffusers may be fire hazards.

Candle diffusers are the cheapest and most convenient aromatherapy diffusers. It comes as a set with a candle and a small plate on which to place the essential oil. There are a number of styles to choose form and they are available in health stores and aromatherapy shops. With a candle diffuser, you need to be careful because you can start a fire with these. You will need to have an extra supply of candles on hand.

Another type of diffuser is a small fan used to blow the essential oil into the Aromatherapyair. It comes with a pad or tray that is disposable. These diffusers also come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and styles. They require electricity to run. You will need to replace the pads frequently. They tend to be noisy if dust accumulates in them. Fan diffusers are good for dispersing the essential oils into a large area.

If you want to diffuse essential oils into larger areas, you may want to consider an electric heat diffuser. It is similar to the fan diffuser. It is more effective in diffusing the aroma of essential oils such as sandalwood. The therapeutic properties of the essential oils are lessened with the use of heat.

An environmentally friendly diffuser is the clay pot. These are made of terra cotta and also come in various shapes and sizes. They have a cork for the opening for the essential oils. Clay pots are inexpensive but can break if used too often. The aroma from the pot has a short life.

When shopping for essential oils, check to see what types of diffusers are being sold. Select one that fits you and your lifestyle. Make sure you practice safety and keep these items out of the way of small children.
